“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
—1 John 1:7

Sin weighs heavy on each of us.

The intent of sin is to hinder our fellowship with God by causing us to realize that we don’t measure up to His standard. The result is that we try to hide from Him. We make every attempt and argument to “be better”. Living in pity, pride or pain, we blame circumstances or ourselves and others for our hurt and hopelessness. Living in this kind of dark place is tiring, torturing and a trap.

Jesus came to be our Light in the darkest of places. He is not a paralyzing burden of regret, but a promised blessing of hope.

We admit our sins – He already knows what they are.

We acknowledge His forgiveness – He has already willingly paid the price for those sins.

We accept His cleansing – It is complete and without condition.

We allow His healing – We cannot heal ourselves. We can only manage the pain, He mends the pain.

The battle between the shadows of darkness and the salvation of Light has been won. But, this kind of victory requires daily surrender. Living in the Light of His Presence illustrates the power of God’s work illuminates the prison of the darkness. I must be consistent, continual, contritional and confident in Him.
