Helping Others Get To Where They Want To Go
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
—Matthew 7:24–25
How many times have we asked the question, “Did you hear what I said”? As parents or spouses. In the workplace or with friends, we often wonder if people hear what we say.
God calls to each of us each moment of each day. The psalmist tells us that, “Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfall”. From the depths of God’s heart to the depths of our heart, God speaks to us. The question He asks, “Did you hear what I said?”
Jesus said that the one who hears His words and puts them into practice is like wise man building on a strong foundation. It’s the ability to hear with the heart.
If we hear with our heart . . .
. . . We are aware of God’s word.
. . . We appreciate what He says.
. . . We appropriate His guidance, reproof and correction.
. . . We apply His instruction and teaching.
Jesus assures us that even if life’s challenges bring us rain, flooding or winds that we beat us down, we will be secure in our storms. His foundation is firm. His Peace is in His Promises.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequately equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim 3:16, 17 NASB)
He is speaking . . . are you hearing Him?
