Helping Others Get To Where They Want To Go
One Thing
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.” (Ps 27:4) 
The psalmist understood that the devastating realities of war often lead to discouraging results. The discouragement of a prevailing fight can detour the primary focus.
David countered his enemies strategic opposition by defining his sole objective . . . he appealed to his Commander for just “one thing” . . . to reside in His presence, to regard His beauty and to request His wisdom.
In facing hardships as good soldiers in Christ Jesus (2 Tim 2:3), we must wholeheartedly embrace the same request and experience the same results.
Confidence: David faced his fear with faith. He rested in the security of His Savior. He writes, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Ps 27:1). David continues, “Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.” (Ps 27:3)
Covering: God’s true presence was David’s total protection. “For He will hide me in His shelter in the day of trouble; He will conceal me under the cover of his tent; He will lift me high upon a rock.” (Ps 27:5)
Clarity: What God does demands praise for Who God is. “And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.” (Ps 27:6)
Commitment: God’s desirous invitation necessitates our devoted intent. “You have said, ‘Seek My face.’ My heart says to You, ‘Your face, Lord, do I seek.’” (Ps 27:8)
Courage: Compelling courage is created in a consecrated connection. “Wait for The Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for The Lord!” (Ps 27:14)
Embrace the “one thing”. Experience The One.
