Helping Others Get To Where They Want To Go
“Then my tongue shall tell of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long.”
Psalm 35:28
“Okay God. This is enough. I’ve had it. Ever time I turn around, someone else is coming after me.”
Ever been there? I have.
It seems that when things should be going right, they’re not. That when all the planning should be coming together, it’s falling apart. Or, there’s at least one person who is complaining, criticizing or condemning . . . or maybe several people. Or . . . and this is my favorite . . . no matter how hard you work at building up . . . someone is right there ready to tear down.
David faced many of the same “growth opportunities.” His attackers were within and without. He faced fronts on all sides. His enemies were trying to destroy him, while those close were trying to detour him. On some days, David was just trying to survive.
The psalmist’s solution was simple . . . tell the story of God . . . send all the praise His way . . . and, do it all day long.
Tell Of His Righteousness. Focusing on God’s righteousness helps us see things through the right frame of reference. Telling of His passion, His provision, His protection and His promises puts everything else into proper perspective. The psalmist writes, “His righteous acts will be told to those not yet born. They will hear about everything He has done.” (Ps 22:31)
Tell Of His Redemption. The old hymn, “I Love To Tell The Stroy” is our praise. David wrote, “I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know.” (Ps 40:9). Paul reminds us of the power of the Gospel, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘but the righteous shall live by faith.’” (Rom 1:16-17). In Our redemption, His righteousness is revealed.
Tell Of His Rescue. David needed to be delivered from those who wanted his destruction. He had no other place to turn. And, God answered . . . as He always does and as He always will. God will rescue . . . in His time and in His way. “How long, O Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their destruction, my precious life from the lions! I will thank You in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise You.” (Psalm 35:17-18)
The Mesaage puts the final verses in this Psalm in an encouraging context, “But those who want the best for me, Let them have the last word—a glad shout!— and say, over and over and over, “ God is great—everything works together for good for his servant.” I’ll tell the world how great and good you are, I’ll shout Hallelujah all day, every day.” (Psalm 35:27-28)
Proclaim His righteousness . . . Praise Him . . . ALL DAY LONG!
