“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10 NIV
There are some people who soar and some people who struggle.
There are times when our progress is hindered by problems . . . and, there are times when it’s due to the paths we choose.
And . . . this tough . . . sometimes it’s by God’s design and not our decisions.
We often evaluate God’s hand of blessing in terms of pleasure, possessions or position. While He equates blessing with commitment, compassion and communion.
He has gifted some with smooth sailing while others with tempestuous seas.
He has allowed some to experience ease while others face failure.
He has provided some with abundant supply while others have abandoned storehouses.
Sometimes it’s because of the choices we make. Sometimes it’s because of the choices He makes. He gives graciously, but He also gives grace. In both situations, He is always there. Jesus encouraged Paul, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” (2 Cor 12:9 NLT)
He Promises Unfailing Love
The psalmist wrote, “But I trust in Your unfailing love. I will rejoice because You have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD because He is good to me.” (Ps 13:5-6 NLT). God wants us to experience the absolute and express the abundance of His love. Paul noted, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is.” (Eph 3:18 NLT)
He Promises Unending Provision
When we seek Him, we are always satisfied. Jesus comforts us, “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ . . . But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matt 6:31, 33 ESV) God’s provision is evidenced in our poverty. Paul reminded the Christ followers in Philippi, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:19 ESV)
He Promises Unlimited Mercy
Our God is tender in our troubled times. The psalmist wrote, “I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, For You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities.” (Ps 31:7 NKJV). His mercy is always enough . . . and, more than enough. David concluded, “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.” (Ps 86:5 NKJV)
He Promises Uninterrupted Presence
In his last words to the nation of Israel, Moses spoke of God’s promised presence. He said, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deut 31:6 ESV). He was there . . . He is here . . . and, He will always be.
God’s love, provision, mercy and presence are His promises to you and He never breaks a promise.
If these are shaky times for you, remember that He is never shaken.
Hold on and don’t let go.
