Spend Wisely

Spend Wisely

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.

Proverbs 3:13–14 ESV

In a world obsessed with success, Scripture reminds us that true wealth isn’t found in what we earn—but in what we learn from God. Wisdom isn’t just a concept—it’s Christ Himself, offered to us daily, if we’ll seek Him above silver and treasure Him beyond gold.

The pursuit of wisdom is the pathway to blessing. And in God’s economy, wisdom is not just practical, it’s priceless.

Seek Through Him

To find wisdom, we must first focus our gaze. Solomon tells us “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Prov 9:10). Wisdom is not found in formulas or philosophies; it’s found in reverent relationship.

Jesus invites us to seek first the Kingdom (Matt 6:33), not as an obligation, but as an orientation of the heart. When we seek Him, we find wisdom walking beside us. Charles Spurgeon said, “Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”

Seek wisdom, not as an precept, but as a person. Seek Jesus. Seek through Him.

Store Through Him

Wisdom isn’t just meant to be found, it’s meant to be formed in us. Proverbs 2:1–2 urges us: “Receive my words and treasure up my commandments . . . making your ear attentive to wisdom.”

The Word of God is not just for reading; it’s for retaining. Memorized truth becomes mobilized faith. And what we store in our hearts shapes how we stand in the storms.

Wisdom becomes a shield when it’s stored deep within.

Spend Through Him

Wisdom is wealth.  But it’s not meant to be saved for just the right time. It must be spent, shared, and shown. James reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God… and it will be given him.” (James 1:5). And once it’s given, it’s meant to guide.

Our decisions, our relationships, our words:  these become currency for the Kingdom when we live wisely. A.W. Tozer noted, “Wisdom, among other things, is the ability to devise perfect ends and to achieve those ends by the most perfect means.”

Spend your life wisely. Spend your words kindly. Spend your days purposefully.

The world offers gold that fades. Christ offers wisdom that lasts. Choose what is better. Live what is eternal.

Seek. Store. Spend. All through Jesus.
